Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment is a cross-college institute at the University of Kentucky, committed to adopting recommendations of the National Academy of Sciences report on facilitating interdisciplinary research, to leverage and augment existing strengths in environmental and sustainability science and policy and develop a flexible world-class organization poised to address environmental challenges.

Research: Her major findings to date are that fair trade has enabled farmers to make a reliable income from their labors, pay for their children’s education, and—through coffee co-ops—gain political stability in Guatemala.
